If the stands are rated at 2 tonnes and my car weighs 1.5 tonnes is that enough to support my car? I'll be jacking up the car one side at a time so a 1 tonne stand will be under the car as I move to jack up the other side.

When jacking a vehicle, it is important to use the correct jacking point which is located at the front of the vehicle in the middle. This way, you can lift the vehicle and place both stands safely. Jacking a vehicle from the seals is not recommended and is only recommended for garages who have suitable lifting equipment.

Are the axle stands rated at 2 tonne per stand?

They are rated at 1 tonne each but must be used as a pair.
